Bring an accepted ID and leave prohibited items behind
Under the current policy, general visitors age 18 and older need a REAL ID-compliant driver's license or state ID, a U.S. passport or passport card, or a qualifying Enhanced Driver's License. Visitors younger than 18 without picture ID must be escorted by a responsible adult with accepted identification. Read the official list before departure; a card that looks like a normal driver's license may not satisfy the requirement.
Everyone is subject to bag check and magnetometer screening. USNA currently lists weapons and knives, mace, coolers, boxes, backpacks, duffle bags, large camera bags, and bags larger than a typical purse among prohibited items. Bring less rather than asking a screener to make the decision at the gate.
General Public Visitation currently excludes non-U.S. citizens. Foreign-national access remains restricted and follows separate official sponsorship and escort rules. Security conditions, major events, and temporary controls can change access with little relevance to a purchased tour time, so check before buying and again shortly before arrival.
