BWI Marshall Airport

BWI is the closest major commercial airport. Compare current rental-car hours, rideshare pricing, and traffic on the drive toward Annapolis; rail does not continue directly into the historic core.

US-50 is the usual approach from the Washington region. Beltway and corridor traffic can transform the drive, especially Friday afternoon, so check the whole route near departure time.

Garage first, harbor second

Historic streets are narrow, curb space is limited, and circling for a perfect spot is a poor introduction to Annapolis. Follow the lodging property's instructions or choose a city garage, then walk or take the current circulator service toward Church Circle and City Dock. Confirm garage hours and maximum vehicle height when traveling with a rooftop box or large SUV.

Naval Academy ceremonies, legislative business, sailboat shows, regattas, and Navy football weekends can all increase traffic and room demand. On those dates, reserve lodging and parking early and expect security or street patterns to differ from an ordinary weekend.
